Hepatologist Specializing in Liver Transplant

Liver diseases are a cause of increasing global health burden and expenditure. Liver transplant is a lifesaving procedure for patients with liver disease. Liver transplant is a highly specialized field. There are very few experienced transplant hepatologists in the world. I have been working with one of the largest centers specializing in Living Donor Related Liver transplant (LDLT). Transplant herpetology requires knowledge and proficiency of multiple medical specialties like critical care, gastrointestinal surgery, and sound knowledge of pharmacology to adjust immunosuppression medications, pathology, Interventional radiology, Infectious diseases and palliative care.

Following is a list of diseases and conditions treated by Transplant Hepatologist:

  1. Acute liver failure
  2. Acute on Chronic liver failure
  3. Cirrhosis
  4. Acute variceal bleeding
  5. Hepatorenal syndrome
  6. Drug induced liver injury
  7. Plasmapheresis for severe hyperbilirubinemia
  8. Post liver transplant rejection
  9. Post liver transplant biliary strictures
  10. Post liver transplant vascular complications like portal vein thrombosis

Gastroenterology is a specialty that evaluates the entire alimentary tract from mouth to anus. It also involves studying the diseases of the pancreas. I am one of the few female gastroenterologists practicing in Delhi, India. In the entire state of Delhi there are just 5-6 female gastroenterology specialists. I specialize in the study of obesity and its relationship to stress leading to abnormal eating habits.

Following is a list of procedures performed by gastroenterologists

  1. Colonoscopy
  2. Colonoscopy with polyp removal
  3. Colonoscopy with treatment of bleeding
  4. Upper Endoscopy with treatment of bleeding with various modalities like thermal, hemoclips, injection, variceal banding
  5. Upper endoscopy with dilation of esophageal, pyloric strictures
  6. Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy( PEG)
  7. Capsule endoscopy
